Essential Oil Application for Eye Infection
Many thanks to A. for making the time to share her experiences! Keep the stories coming in . . .
Back in May of 2009 I had an awful Eye Infection, both eyes profusely emitting yellow gunk. It took me a half day to figure out what was going on, never had an eye infection in my life, but by that time I was in the worst of it. I am sure this isn’t recommended at all but in desperation I rubbed a drop of lavender oil around both eyes. Yes it did burn, for about a good 15 minutes, but it slowed down the gunk coming out of my eyes noticeably so. I did that for about three applications on the first day. From the second day on I mixed one drop of Lavender oil in with 1/3 cup of Grape Seed oil, and then morning and night had a drop placed in each eye. And the infection cleared up with out any need of stepping into a doctors office.
In November of 2009 I took one look at my 5 year old daughters eyes and knew instantly what was going on. So right away we were putting the diluted Lavender drops in her eyes three times a day. Along with having her lay with a wet wash cloth on her eyes that had been soaked in a Tea Tree and Dead Sea Salt mixture. Her eye infection stayed mild, and life continued on. Two weeks later her 1 1/2 year old brother started showing signs of an eye infection too. So again we did the drops, he had no interest in laying there for the wash cloth to rest on his eyes. So instead I felt inspired to rub a drop of Tea Tree on his feet. Worked like magic.
Some nice things I learned from all of this, when putting drops in childrens eyes if they have trouble keeping their eyes open for the dropper, have them close their eyes drop it in the corner of their eyes and then ask them to blink, drop goes right into the eye. It also helps a lot to wash out their eyes morning and night with a very mild soap, before applying the drops.
My neighbor down the street told me of her son getting an eye infection also, but she took her son to the Doctors. I asked what the treatment was prescribed by the doctor. She mentioned some medicated eye drops, that had the side effect of dry eyes, not enjoyable at all.
I love having the ability to take care of my family here at home, and Essential Oils make that more than possible.
To your good health!

Thank you for the posting your experience with eye infections and tea tree oil. I have a 1 1/2 year old. Her right eye was swollen yesterday and filled with discharge. I flushed it out with water and then rubbed tea tree on her feet. I also held my hands in front of her eyes (not too close), and let her take a few deep breaths of the vapors. Her eyes teared until I put her to bed. She slept pretty hard and woke up this morning and her eyes are completely clear.
Thank you! Thank you!
